Poppy Appeal Generates Over £1000 in Donations

Mill Gate

The Brief

We had remarkable success at this year’s Mill Gate Shopping Centre’s 2025 Poppy Appeal campaign, which exceeded all expectations and achieved over £1,000 in donations for the Royal British Legion. Delivered through a combined PR, digital marketing, and community engagement strategy, the campaign brought together schools, community groups, shoppers, and centre partners to create one of Mill Gate’s most impactful remembrance initiatives to date.

The Strategy

This year’s appeal was supported by outstanding contributions from local groups including Seedfield Community Knitting Group, St Thomas CEP Bury, St Joseph’s Primary School, the 44th Bury ROBOT Scouts, and Bury FC Juniors. Their handmade poppies and creations played a vital part in the campaign’s success.

The Results

Due to the incredible quantity of donated poppies, two striking Walls of Remembrance have been created within the centre, giving visitors a meaningful space to pause and reflect. As part of the wider remembrance activity, Veterans in Communities also opened a pop-up art exhibition, offering a powerful showcase of creative work from veterans across the region. Meanwhile, the Royal British Legion continued its annual Poppy Appeal presence in the centre, giving shoppers further opportunities to show their support.

This year’s results highlight the strength of community partnerships and the impact of a fully integrated campaign.
