Whilst there are several digital services already promoting Plymouth City Centre, including Visit Plymouth, there was a limited focus on promoting ‘Shopping in Plymouth’ and, thus, the retailers and businesses within the Plymouth BID area through these channels. With this in mind, The Plymouth City Centre Company decided to look for marketing company who would be able to fully address this requirement for them, as an outsourced service.
Destination won the contract and implemented its SocialiStreet solution.
Offering a 'breakfast to bedtime' social media service; the opportunity to design new branding for Plymouth Shopping; the design, development and hosting of a specific Plymouth Shopping website for the BID retailers/businesses; and a unique Brand Ambassador service, presented a perfect solution to the challenge posed by Plymouth City Centre Company. With a 'hands-on' Account Manager to oversee the entire project, it enabled the PCCC to focus on their day-to-day roles. The service was enhanced with the ability to promote the Plymouth BID area's key events across these channels, examples so far being 'Flavour Fest' in June, 'Fashion in the City' during early September and key events at Frankfort Gate.
From a 'standing start' the website engagement has built rapidly over the first half year, to over 10,000 page views during October. Between end July and end October, Facebook Page Likes increased by 63.9%, Twitter followers by 72.5% and Instagram followers by 123.9%.
Our social and digital support of key events has also worked extremely well with this client – a recent post for the Christmas Lights Switch-on reached nearly 22,000 people and had a post click figure of 1,200.
